It is an excellent book.It is very easy to read and comprehensive.I like it, I recommend this book.

I love it

It is a very useful and interesting material. Lean Manufacturing and Logistics is a topic very popular but still literature is missing in this field. Out there in the book there are plenty of examples and theoretical concepts for Leans. Really new and actual content inside. It is just for the business I work in and consider it worth a purchase.

I have been a student of Toyota Production System principles and methods for 20+ years. Eleven of those years were spent working in Japan. As a coach and consultant I have found no other lean material handling and logistics book of this kind published during the past 50 years in English, French, or Japanese. The writing is clear, concise, and rich in the kind of detail that can not be found elsewhere. The ideas are concrete and practical with analysis of the pros and cons specific to actual applications in industry. There are many illustrations and photos to drive home the points needed to actually devise and implement these approaches in many different production and assembly environments. The content has been carefully edited and arranged. It would serve equally well as a mid- to advanced-level textbook or an easy-to-use reference for experienced material handling and logistics professionals. In fact, I'm introducing it now to a team I'm training at Ingersoll Rand. For me, it has has taken the place of many years worth of personally prepared training materials. And for that I am very thankful. Mr. Baudin is a rare breed of scholar-teacher of applied engineering systems. As an active lean consultant, his openness with this hard-won knowledge is also remarkable. This book fulfills many needs and deserves a much wider audience than it seems to reach currently. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I first met Mr. Baudin in Japan (2005) on a kaikaku experience trip with, at that time, my company CIE Automotive, organised by Asenta. I later met him again in Bilbao (Spain) when he was presenting his book "Working with machines". I have read his three books: Lean assembly, Lean logistics and Working with machines. All are excellent, and are essential for anyone who wants to learn in depth about "lean".For the last six years, I have been working as a freelance consultant on improving factory productivity. Recently I have published a book entitled: "Lean Manufacturing - Exposición adaptada a la fabricación repetitiva de familias de productos mediante procesos discretos". It has been a honour for me to reference Mr. Baudin's books in the bibliography.I also follow his blog and find it most interesting.

Lean Thinking originated from TPS and is well spread in the manufacturing world, with a lot of information on how to improve manufacturing. For logistics however, many Lean tools don't apply; on the other hand there are aspects more specific to logistics, which are not well addressed by the manufacturing-oriented Lean literature. This book fills the gap and is well written. It is:-specific instead of generic-practical instead of theoretical-detailed instead of high-level-original instead of "me too"So, the book shows real problems and solutions in real factories, instead of repeating the same buzzwords, that You can find anyway at any place. It seems to be based on a lot of personal experience of the author. The messages are illustrated very well with photos, sketches and charts. These are small and not high-end quality but perfectly suitable to deliver the message: "pictures tell more then thousand words".The text is easily comprehensible, even for a non-native english speaker, like me.

Michel's obvious hands-on experience and his exceptionally clear writing style makes this book a joy to read as well as an excellent reference resource. Every aspect of logistics from the supplier to the end customer is covered in detail with a strong focus on Lean. The author's use of real life examples and his wonderful graphics makes this book stand out.

Till date, though "lean" was practiced by leaders in respective fields, not much literature is available. This book captured different lean logistics practices followed, particularly in automotive world.I think author wrote this book with lot of his practical knowledge. Among many I was impressed with details on milkruns, consolidation center and returnable containers, pros and cons of using them and right conditions of using them.
